Session Description:

Clifford is a Kaiju! Scar was right about Mufasa! Batman is a super villain! As long as there has been pop culture, there have been fan groups arguing about it. Getting kids to put down their devices and engage is more difficult than ever, so why not meet them where they are in our classrooms? As educators we often search for hooks into our lessons that are interesting and relevant, but we often get stuck when it comes to making the connection to skills students need to learn. This panel of educators will offer tips and insights into using pop culture as a gateway to engage students in argument and analysis, and help them transfer those skills to classroom material.
